Blue Stem
Big--Large clump of silver-blue or green blades that has a bronze flower spike in
the fall with purple tinges. Will grow 3-4 ft tall and wide.
Little--Short blue-green clumps that will turn reddish purple in the fall. Grows
to 2 ft tall and 2 ft wide.
Feather Reed
Avalanche--Larger than the Karl Foerster this grass has more arching in its blades.
It will grow to 5 ft tall and wide with fantastic plumes in the late summer.
Karl Foerster--Great upright blades that will show white flower plumes in August
through the winter months Grows to 4 ft tall and 3 ft wide
Overdam--Great contrast to many of the grasses, this one only gets 3 ft tall and
3 ft wide. The white with green variegated blades does well in sun or part shade.
Rabbit resistant.
Fescue, Blue
Short blue grass that grows in a rounded clump with fine textured blades. Grow to
1 ft tall and 1 ft wide. Deer resistant and loves a dry area. Picture
Fountain
Dwarf-- A perennial grass that has fine green blades with showy spikes of white to
cream color in late summer. Does have a tendancy to die out in the center of the
plant over time.
Purple--Blooms all spring and summer and IS AN ANNUAL (will die every winter). Fantastic
for pots and has flower spikes all spring.
Japanese Blood
Intense foliage with shades of green and red and prefers a little more water than
most grasses. Is very invasive and can spread to a large area.
Maiden
Flame--grows 2 ft tall and 3 ft wide, purple fall color.
Gracillimus--standard maiden grass grows 5 ft tall and wide.
Japanese Silver--grows 5 ft tall and wide with slight varigation in the foliage.
Yaku Jima--smaller variety that grows 3-4 ft tall and wide with prolific seeds in
the late summer.
Zebra--Grows 5 ft tall and 5 ft wide with white or yellowish horizontal stripes on
the foliage.
Pampass
Hardy variety for Colorado that will get 8-10 ft tall and 8 ft wide. Gray green
foliage with large silvery-bronze plumes in late summer. Give this grass room to
stand out in your landscape. Picture
Ribbon
Pale green leaves with white stripes with and arching habit. Can be very invasive
like the Japanese Blood grass. Grows to 3 ft tall and 3 ft wide.
Switch
Heavy Metal--Stiff upright grass with metallic blue foliage and a bright yellow color
in the fall. Grows to 4 ft tall and 2 ft wide.
